[march 27] watercolor salt painting

from $98.00

6-8pm

In this workshop, we’ll focus on exploring how salt can be used to create dynamic texture and atmosphere in watercolor landscapes. This class will demonstrate when and how to apply salt to wet washes to achieve controlled, expressive effects. We’ll work through two guided landscape studies. The first focuses on dramatic evening skies, using rich color transitions and salt textures to enhance mood. The second explores an ocean scene, where salt is used to suggest natural movement and frothy sea foam. This class is designed to be fun and exploratory, giving you the chance to play with one of watercolor’s most exciting texture techniques. Ages 14+.

If you plan on bringing your own supplies, please bring:

  • Full range of watercolors

  • Mixing palette or tray

  • Watercolor brushes in a size 4, 6, or 8 (or whatever your preference is)

  • Cold pressed Watercolor paper (brands I love using are Arches, Hahnemuhle, and Fabriano Artistico, and any handmade 100% cotton watercolor paper)

  • Pencil and eraser

  • Paper towel or cloth

  • Water jar for rinsing brushes
