Himmeli is a term comes from the Swedish word himmel, meaning “sky” or “heaven”. These window hangings are traditionally made around December and are tied to winter holidays and the last harvest of the season. In this workshop, Aurora from Snowflower Studios will guide you through cutting, threading, and assembling a modern take on a classic tradition. We will transform brass tubes into fun geometric shapes with sun-catching crystals and unique glass beads. This is a great project for all skill levels from crafty beginners and connoisseurs alike.

Aurora lives in Reno, Nevada and has been making jewelry out of blades of grass and collecting smooth rocks since before she could hold a pair of pliers. She loves the meditative nature of seed bead jewelry, and loves to incorporate different techniques and stitches into her work. She is inspired and recognizes the influence of ancestral beadworker and makers from around the world, including her grandmother.
