12-2:30p
This workshop will introduce you to the practice of foldforming - a metalwork technique that transforms flat pieces of sheet metal into intricate 3-dimensional shapes through folding, unfolding and hammering. Start with copper sheets and learn to cut, anneal, fold, and texture sheet metal into festive leaves that you can use to decorate a holiday tree, or keep up all year round. We will also cover different techniques for creating patina and basic soldering. Come with your own pressed leaves or shapes for inspiration, or use the ones provided. Materials will be provided for each person to make 2-3 ornaments.
Safety gloves in various sizes will be available to borrow, but if you have a pair of light gardening or work gloves that you like to use we recommend you bring them! This workshop is for all levels - no experience needed and all materials provided.
